Heysen Sculpture Biennial Exhibitions
HSB 2019 Opening Night - 24 February, an interested, keen group of contemporary art lovers at The Cedars.
2019 is the 9th Heysen Sculpture Biennial
The 2019 Heysen Sculpture Biennial exhibition was officially opened on Sunday, February 24 on a lovely, warm Adelaide Hills afternoon and evening.
Dr Lisa Slade, Assistant Director, Artistic Programs Art Gallery of South Australia gave an acknowledgement of Country for the Peramangk people, and formally opened the event. HSB Inc Treasurer Nigel Steele Scott was the Master of Ceremonies. 2019 HSB Curator Stephanie Radok spoke of the Dwelling theme for the exhibition. Rachel McElwee, Director of the Hahndorf Academy, announced the names of the artists she selected for an exhibition opportunity at the Hahndorf Academy in 2020.
Our Opening Event Sponsors were very popular! All local businesses supporting the HSB: Hahndorf Hill Winery's delicious White Mischief and Compatriots wines were supplied, as were the very popular XPA Session Ale provided by Prancing Pony Brewery. Beerenberg Farms provided strawberries, Udder Delights donated rounds of tasty Heysen Blue cheese, Klose's Supermarkets donated general items for the exhibition.
A complete list of our 2019 HSB sponsors is located on the 2019 exhibition page. We gratefully appreciate the Opening Event support provided by Mount Barker District Council, and the great traffic and parking warden volunteers from the Hahndorf Lions Club.
The Committee also thanks the volunteers who made the 2019 HSB Opening such a success.
